The race at Darlington, South Carolina was one for the record books this year.
Saturday, Regan Smith woke up, just an average low key NASCAR driver. Smith who drives for Furniture Row Racing, went from having to race his way into the races last year, to solidly being in the top 35 in points, this year. He's had strong runs at several tracks, however he got caught up in other peoples messes this year.
Saturday night, at the track famously known for being "Too Tough Too Tame", it all came down to final pit strategy, and two tires or just fuel, and apparently Smith and His Crew Chief, Pete Rondeau, made the right call. Not only did Smith, Tame the "Lady in Black", he had his dreams of winning a NASCAR Sprint Cup race come true.
However, all the excitement of Regan Smith's win, was Hdashed by the Kevin and Kyle show. If you know me, you know I'm a Kyle Busch, fan but Saturday night, was just plain ridiculous. I'll blog more about that later.
However, being the Kasey Kahne fan that I am, I was disappointed at the end, because he didn't win. He had a super fast all night, he smacked the wall and it was still fast, he had the car to beat, hands down. However, with Regan and Keselowski only taking gas and Tony Stewart staying out, They restarted 5th, and it ended up a green white checkered, so Kasey left Darlington with what he called a "disappointing'' finish. It's been a long 2 years since we've seen Kasey in victory lane, and after the horrible season that we had last year, a 4th place finish at the toughest track, seems like a good finish to me.
But I would like to congratulate Regan Smith, and his whole team on their win this weekend. Maybe this means, he have some people step up and wanna sponsor him.
